Rakiya is a polymorphous and “polyvore” artist: at the crossroads of a priori antagonistic cultures, she identifies and devours in her dances the archetypes of the classical, dances of the Arab world, flamenco and Indian dances. Each of these dances is there to translate one of the facets of a mosaic personality built throughout a life rich in encounters and contrasting experiences. She will be born first in classical dance, following a classical academic course. The classic will be a beacon throughout her career, a prism through which she will read all these other dances encountered further along the way. These meetings are not the result of chance. They will result from a desire to reconnect with the founding cultures of his artistic being. From a Moroccan father and a Spanish mother, it is his ancestors who call him to these forgotten links.
